What it does

Giveaway Box runs a giveaway where every paid order earns entries, per paid order or per unit spent. Paid orders add entries on their own, guests included; refunds and cancellations take them back. A line on product pages shows the entries, and shoppers can enter once without buying, by email or login.

When the giveaway ends you draw a winner weighted by entries. The draw's seed and an entries fingerprint are saved, so the result can be checked again. Nothing in your theme is edited.

Set up

  1. Install the app and open it from Apps. Then go to Online Store → Themes → Customize → App embeds, switch on Giveaway Box button and save.
  2. In the app, create the giveaway: the prize, start and end dates, how orders earn entries (per paid order or per unit spent) and the address of your rules page. The rules page is required before the giveaway can start.
  3. Add bonus entries if you like (for example for following you or sharing), and mail-in entries by hand for shoppers who sent one.
  4. During the giveaway, every order with entries is listed in the app with a CSV of every change. After the end date, draw the winner in the app and send the winner notice.

Common questions

Do guest orders earn entries?

Yes. Paid orders earn entries whether or not the shopper has an account. Refunds and cancellations take entries back.

Can someone enter without buying?

Yes, once, by email or login, and you can add mail-in entries by ID. Your rules page states how entries work for your giveaway.

What does Pro add?

A giveaway page to share, entry emails, referral and photo entries you approve, fraud checks and Klaviyo events. See the Plan page in the app for your current plan.

Can I prove the draw was fair?

The app saves the seed and an entries fingerprint with each draw, so the same entries and seed give the same winner when checked again.
